O-I regrets to inform schools interested in applying to our Environmental Fund, that the 2020 allocation has been cancelled.
We apologise sincerely for any disappointment this may cause.
Each year we make available a fund to encourage schools to implement sustainability projects. Since 1983, we’ve provided more than $760,000 in study grants to over 400 schools. Find out how your school can apply for a share of the $25,000 fund.
Choose a project suited to your school’s local environment
Past entries have included studies on marine environments; the impact of farming, industry and recreation; alternative energies; pests and noxious weeds; and the creation of native bush corridors for birds and animals.
The O-I NZ Environmental Fund encourages students to look in their own backyards to discover ways they can minimise environmental impact and work with the local community to coordinate initiatives that will benefit their school and society.
Encouraging environmental education
The fund encourages schools to implement sustainability projects that help to develop students’ skills in identifying, investigating and finding solutions to environmental issues. Each year the fund allocates around $25,000 in school grants, which are designed to support these initiatives.
Who can apply
Kindergartens, primary, intermediate and secondary schools. The fund allocates between $250 and $10,000 to school projects.
Wairakei Primary School has kindly allowed us to post their 2014 application to the O-I New Zealand Environmental Fund (The Fund), as an example of a very detailed and complete exemplar. The Fund committee does not expect that every application should be as fulsome, but it is important to note that at the end of reviewing this application, the committee did not have one question unanswered.
Please read the criteria carefully and ensure you have included ALL of the information requested.
